On Thursday, August 19th, RMGO Executive Director Taylor D. Rhodes was interviewed by Fox 31 about the recent slew of lawsuits filed by the organization. RMGO announced Thursday that they had filed suit against the City of Boulder, Louisville, and Unincorporated Boulder County over their recent implementation of bans against “assault weapons,” “high-capacity magazines,” and the sale of both within their jurisdictions. Boulder County Commissioner Clair Levy said, “This entire package is urgently needed. It’s incumbent on us…to do everything within our power to protect public safety.” However, Rhodes called into question their authority to do so. “This is our God-given right [to bear arms]. The idea that gun control is actually a good idea is almost looney town.” When asked about the potential for victory in these lawsuits, Rhodes pointed to the recent temporary restraining order granted by Obama-appointed Judge Ray Moore as the motivation for the continued lawsuits. “We’re extremely confident,” he said. “That’s ultimately why we filed [the lawsuits].” Rhodes expressed optimism that, “We are going to win these fights, so if you’re a gun owner in Colorado, don’t leave, don’t give up hope.” RMGO has made it abundantly clear that the organization will never stop fighting for the rights of Coloradoans, no matter how long it takes to return the rights that have been stolen.
