Stop Gun Confiscation: Support the Sonnenberg Amendment to HB19-1177 or kill the bill.

Fellow Patriot,

You now know how bad the “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation bill, HB19-1177, is.

The current version of the bill focuses only on confiscating guns.

But everyone in the State Capitol knows it doesn’t address the real underlying problem in our state, mental health.

I’ve been working with Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg and Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams on an amendment that would re-write HB19-1177 to remove the gun control and instead give law enforcement a tool that doesn’t remove due-process protections.

If that amendment is approved, RMGO will no longer oppose HB19-1177, since it completely removes the gun issue from the forefront of this bill.

The bill could be heard on the Senate floor in the next few days, so please...

Tell him or her to support the Sonnenberg amendment, or vote against the bill.

If left unchanged, as it passed the House, this bill would be one of the most devastating blows to our rights I have ever seen.

If this “Red Flag” bill is passed as is, it would it would allow disgruntled neighbors, ex-spouses, roommates, and even the police to file gun confiscation orders against you.

Do you like the idea of SWAT teams barging down your door at 5 in the morning using “no knock raids” with orders to seize your firearms without due process, all because someone anonymously reported you?

No, I don’t either.

The anti-gun Democrats are claiming that the current version of the bill is about mental health, but trust me, it’s not.

In fact, the phrase mental health is only mentioned in the bill four times; however, the word firearm is mentioned in the bill one hundred and seven times.

It is clear the bill as currently written is nothing more than a gun grab.

Luckily, I believe the proposed Sonnenberg amendment would allow the bill to enact the change the people of Colorado want to see, addressing mental health issues while protecting our due process rights.

P.S. The Colorado “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation bill could reach the Senate Floor this week, and I think we may have a solution.

I’ve been working with Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg and Weld County Sheriff Steve Reams on an amendment that would re-write HB19-1177 to remove the gun control and instead give law enforcement a tool that doesn’t remove due-process protections.

Can I count on you to urge key Senators to vote for Senator Sonnenberg’s amendment?
